Discussion

1.       The story of three faithful Jews – Daniel 3  

2.       The basis for their decision

a.       Daniel 1:12-13 – Their resolve not to be defiled by the king’s food

b.       Their devotion to the law of Moses – Ex 20:5; Deut 6:14-15  

3.       Some lessons from their example

a.       Present advantage can never compensate for disobedience to the law of God  

b.       God’s servants would not even give the appearance of worshipping the image  

c.       Uncertainty about what God would do could not prevent them from doing what they should do  

d.       While Nebuchadnezzar saw only obstinacy, God saw faith  

e.       The confidence of the three Jews infuriated the king  

Conclusion

1.       When God’s will is clear, there can be no wavering from the course we ought to pursue

2.       This is clearly seen in obeying the command to be baptized

3.       This is also clearly seen in daily decisions we make about conducting our affairs
