Acts 4:5-12

Introduction

1.       The difficulties that have been surmounted in order that we might have the Bible

Discussion

1.       The lame man is healed

a.       They had disowned Jesus - 3:14  

b.       The man was healed through the name of Jesus – 3:16  

c.       Jesus was the one whom the prophets had predicted was to come – 3:24  

2.       Peter and John were arrested and put in jail

a.       The Jewish Rulers were disturbed because they were teaching the people  

b.       The Jewish Rulers were disturbed because they were “proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead”  

3.       Peter testifies to the rulers

a.       The healing is attributed to Jesus – 4:10  

b.       Salvation is in no one else – 4:12  

4.       God’s plan for salvation in Jesus

a.       Faith – a deep conviction that Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son – Mark 16:15  

b.       Repentance – a deep sorrow for personal sins – 2 Cor 7:10  

c.       Confession of one’s faith – Matt 10:32-33  

d.       Baptism in the name of Jesus Christ – an immersion in which one becomes a disciple of Jesus – Matt 28:19  

Conclusion

1.       The Jewish rulers were not interested in the salvation that Peter offered

2.       The coming judgment of God is the reason that you ought to be interested in the salvation that is offered through Jesus

3.       Success is not about what you can accomplish here, but is determined by where you spend eternity
