1.       The origin of the communion service – Matt 26:19-29

a.       The Jewish Passover – Ex 12:1-12  

b.       The last supper of Jesus with his disciples – the celebration that was changed to mourning – Matt 26:21-25

2.       Communion in the New Testament Church of Christ

a.       Luke 24:28-35  

b.       Acts 2:42; Matt 26:29  

c.       Acts 20:7  

d.       1 Cor 11:17 -22  

3.       The purpose of communion

a.       A celebration of our faith in Jesus – 1 Cor 10:16  

b.       A celebration of our unity in the faith – Acts 20:7 – they “came together”  

c.       A celebration of our hopes to come – 1 Cor 11:26

2.       Our life centers in Jesus and what he did for us – Matt 26:28
