Bible Study
by Stephen Bastin
Understanding the Bible is basic to everything we do as
Christians. The Bible sets the
standards for right and wrong. The
Bible describes the God in whom we are to believe.
The Bible gives us the reasons that we should accept Jesus as Lord and
Savior. It also tells us how one
becomes a Christian.
Since
the Bible is so important to our lives as Christians, we spend a great deal of
time in Bible study. We encourage
others to open their Bibles and investigate for themselves.
You
are important to God and you are important to us.
We have Bible study programs at our building on Sunday morning and
Tuesday evening. We offer individual
Bible studies in people’s homes.
We
believe there are right ways to study the Bible and there are also wrong ways.
If one forms an opinion about some subject and then goes to the Bible to
see if that is correct, one will usually find what one is searching for.
It may not be the truth, but by taking verses out of their context all
sorts of weird things may be “proved.”
On
the other hand if one comes to the Bible with an open mind seeking the truth,
the truth will be found. The Bible
was written to correct us, not to prove that we are right.
If you are interested in studying the Bible we would like to help you. In addition to the studies on Tuesday evening, we go to people’s homes to study with them. We will give you a Bible if you have none. We will try to answer any questions you might have about the Bible and about living a Christian life. We are here to help you understand the Bible. Please let us know if you would like us to help you. Our e-mail address is on the home page.
